Malaysiakini reports that Dr M said today he would pardon his jailed ex-deputy DSAI if he had the powers of the king in Malaysia. He is reported to have said this in answer to a Bangkok reporter who asked whether as a magnanimous gesture he would consider releasing DSAI on his retirement at the end of this month. As far as we know, DSAI has not asked for pardon and has been said before that he is not guilty and will not request for pardon. It looks like the soon to retired Dr M is looking to pass the buck once again. Sometime ago, he said that it was for Pak Lah to settle this DSAI issue when he takes over. Now it looks like he is passing it to the DYMM Agong. Why a change of mind at this juncture, when he is about to leave the scene? Haven't we been told before that he was 100% sure that his friend is guilty before he did what he did? If so, why the anout turn now? After the recent ongoing furore about his opening speech at the 10th OIC session, is he hoping to divert attention and hopefully leave better remembered? Questions, questions, questions. Maybe, it was easier to have answered in this manner than to have simply said No Lah. Anyway as we all know, the PM is always in a position to make representation and advise the DYMM accordingly.
