In this land of plenty, there are among us those who are homeless. The Star highlighted such a family today. The report tells of a family in Kampung Tengah, Selangor, a couple and their 10 children, who for more than a decade have been staying in an abandoned warehouse. The owner of the warehouse who had allowed them to stay, now wants to develop the area. So it looks like this Deepavali they will have no roof above their heads. It is heartening to know that the Selayang MIC is looking into the matter and providing help. Those interested in helping can contact :: the MIC Youth Social and Welfare Committee at No. 12, Jalan PBP 5, Taman Industri, Pusat Bandar Puchong, 41700 Selangor, or Mohan at 019-211 9547 or 03-5882 3060. It is sad and depressing to hear of such cases. And Malaysia with all her wealth and riches is not spared. The homeless are present all over the world. In England the Homeless have rights, see this site called :: Shelternet. Wonder what rights do the Malaysian Homeless have? I supposed that there is the Welfare Department to provide help together with NGOs and good Samaritans.
