I tend to dread things which will invade my privacy and MyKad and recently the MM Chip got me worried. See this blog and here for context.. Now it looks that they are here to stay but I will resist having to use them until such times when it is compulsory. Wouldn't want things about myself flashed for all to see as in TV Smith's, now famous, Naked Card. It was less than a month ago, on 4th Sept when our PM announced the MM chip. Dr M said then that it is the smallest @ 0.25 sq mm and the most advanced Microchip using RFID technology. He also said that the cutting-edge microchip technology project is indispensable to the achievement of Malaysia's Vision 2020 and that it will change technology applications worldwide as the chip can be embedded into almost everything including the human body. Curiously, while Dr M was making his announcement, Hitachi was also unveiling its tiniest RFID chips with an internal antenna. Looks like the MM chip is not the smallest as Hitachi so called Itty Bitty RFID chip measures in @ 0.16 sq mm! See this article dated 2nd Sept for details of the Hitachi's Itty Bitty chip. Many of us, have been wondering at what price was the cost in acquiring the rights to what is now the 2nd tiniest RFID chip. Wonder no more for according to Joe-Blogs the copyrights were bought at a tiny Rm34.2 million. Now the question is whether did we really bought the rights to the tiniest or the 2nd tiniest??? Would the PM or Datuk JJ care to clarify?
