More on Marginalisation, Neglect and Victimisation

Finally, on reaching home, our Pak Lah has weighed in. Being the slow and careful person he is, he wants MM Lee to be given an opportunity to clarify those "arrogant and insulting" comments. Pak Lah will be writing to MM Lee to find out the reasons why MM Lee had made such a statement. Hopefully, he won't be using snail mail.

Concurring with our DPM, Pak Lah labelled what MM Lee had to say as "mischievous". Earlier while in London, the PM stressed that it is a fact that no community is being marginalised in Malaysia.

The MCA president reassures all by saying that Not a single village neglected.

Gerakan deputy president and soon-to-be president, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon like the PM is sure that Chinese are not marginalised.

Unlike our ever patient PM, the BBC (Barisan Backbencher Club) acting chairman is less so. For him there is no need for clarification, he just wants MM Lee to apologise. Obviously he believes in asking for the moon, he wants MM Lee to apologise openly to Pak Lah and his gomen. The BBC acting chairman also wants the Singapore's Ambassador to Malaysia to give a written explanation for MM Lee's statement. While he is at it, why not demand the written explanation from MM Lee instead.

Meanwhile, newly minted grandafather, our DPM on another matter advised those "victimised" teachers who have been posted to rural schools, not to assume that they have been subjected to "victimisation" but are being subjected to "a challenge".

The DAP has decided to take a contrarian view. Its secretary-general agreed with what MM Lee had to say. In a statement, secretary-general Lim said ::
“... The Chinese and other non-Chinese have been systematically marginalised by discriminatory government policies that only favour the rich and politically connected.”

“Such politics of denial is dishonest as BN leaders themselves have stated that discriminatory policies such as quotas and the New Economic Policy (NEP) are necessary for racial harmony and national stability.”

Secretary-general Lim went further and said ::
“In fact, Lee is half right in that it is not only the Chinese who are marginalised. The Indians and poor Malays are also marginalised.”

Is BERNAMA flaming or praising MM Lee with this report :: At 83, Kuan Yew Still Has Fire In The Belly???

Want to know what young people on the otherside of the causeway is saying about this latest feud between Singapore and Malaysia? Check out this forum.

The Tun blasts MM Lee

Our Tun, the recently born again true BolehLand Malaysian, has responded to MM Lee's "arrogant and insulting" comments. Singapore Minister Mentor Lee recently told a forum held in conjunction with the International Monetary Fund conference in Singapore that Malaysia and Indonesia had problems with their Chinese minorities because they were successful and hardworking and therefore they were systemically marginalised.

Earlier on, our DPM has weighed in by calling MM Lee's comments, "naughty". The Gerakan topguns, soon-to-retire president Datuk Seri Lim and the president-elect Tan Sri Koh, have also responded, having temporary echolalia, they had also labelled MM Lee's comments as "naughty". They also further reminded MM Lee to mind his own business, presumably to look after his own country.

And how has our Tun responded? He has come out with guns blazing and this is what BERNAMA has to say ::
"We could ask about the status of the Malays in Singapore, why they are not allowed to bear arms in the military or train to handle weapons. Why is it that the Malays in Malaysia are so capable in the military field but the Malays in Singapore cannot hold high posts (in the military)?

"Why is it that the Malays in Singapore are marginalised to the extent that they have no status at all? This is done deliberately by Singapore. There is no other country that does it like them," he said.

Dr Mahathir said Lee's allegation about the Chinese in Malaysia being marginalised was untrue because there are Chinese holding high posts, for example in the armed forces.

"The Chinese in Malaysia can join the military and rise to become general, major general and so on. But what is the per capita income of the Malays in comparison with the Chinese in Singapore?

"We should have an independent investigation on why the Malays are left behind in Singapore. It is not because they are lacking compared to the Malays in Malaysia but because they are pressured, marginalised and oppressed. That is the kind of government founded on the views of Lee Kuan Yew," he said.

Funny thing is that if one were to substitute Chinese for Malays and Malaysia for Singapore in all that our Tun has to say, one would agree more with what the Tun has to say.

Meanwhile, most Malaysians are eagerly waiting for our Pak Lah's response to what MM Lee had to say. But realising that our "I am in control" PM consults the cabinet on all matters, it might take sometime before he reveals what he has to say. And that might take a long long time, remember they might have to make their numerous U-turns, the latest being the response to the Pope's apology.

So while waiting there is no need to hold your breath, check out this, "Malaysia's most influential blog" to find out what blog commentators already have to say regarding MM Lee's comments and Najib's "naughty" response.

Expect also over the next few days to find other BN component party strongmen and strongwomen suffering from temporary echolalia and protest that MM Lee's comments on marginalisation are all to be marginalised and all wrong, wrong, wrong in the BolehLand context. Where can there be marginalisation of any BolehLanders, all are treated as equal by our "I am in control", "I am PM for all Malaysians" and "I consult my cabinet on all matters" PM.

Sincere Dialogues, YES; Open Dialogues, NO

In New York recently, at the UN General Assembly, our wise but slow moving PM, who is also chairman of the OIC, called for sincere dialogue among the bickering human family of the world.

According to the SUN and BERNAMA, Pak Lah said much of the ills in the world resulted from irrational actions caused by prejudices in human attitudes, no thanks to the failure to dialogue, communicate and reach out to one another as fellow human beings.

Meanwhile at home, the Minister in the PM's Department who is in-charge of National Unity, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said the government had decided to stop quarters, including NGOs from organising open discussions on inter-racial and inter-faith issues.

At the same time, Minister Datuk Maximus, is quoted by the SUN as saying ::
"But this does not mean the government does not allow dialogues on religion. The government encourages discussions on religion, but not in the open."

So internationally, we have the PM calling for sincere dialogue on inter-faith issues, while at home, we have noneless than the MInister of National Unity saying that we cannot have open dialogue on inter-racial and inter-faith issues.

Who do we follow? Is it possible to have sincere dialogue and at the same time have no open dialogue?

Further, according to a BERNAMA report quoted by the SUN, the National Unity Minister said ::
Inter-racial dialogue or discussion is allowed only if the programme is handled by the National Unity and Integration Department with the collaboration of the Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) and the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM)

With such "open dialogue" monitored, is it any wonder why, at least in the local setting, Islam is the most misunderstood religion.

Tun to be Silenced

The Tun is running out of fora to say his piece. The "knives or knaves" are out. This Saturday is gonna be a long one for the Kubang Pasu UMNO division members, the division head Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum has made a final appeal to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to withdraw his candidacy as a delegate to the Umno General Assembly in November. Why has he done so, ironically the reason for wanting to silence the Tun is because he is held in high regards and high esteem by UMNO and a statesman of the Tun stature should not be seated amongst the delegates of the November UMNO general assembly. Johari has written a letter to appeal to the Tun to withdraw his candidacy.

Two UMNO state liaison committee chairmen have gone further. At the Kuala Krai UMNO Division delegates meeting, Johore UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and Kelantan UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Annuar Musa have advised Kubang Pasu UMNO Division members not to vote for the Tun as a delegate at the party general assembly in November. They also cannot imagine the Tun seated amongst the othe UMNO general assembly delegates. One can only guess the true reason why so.

At the Kuala Krai meeting too the Johore MB also had other secrets to share with Annuar from Kelantan. BERNAMA reported ::
In his speech, Abdul Ghani said Umno Johor would share the secret behind its untainted unity with Kelantan Umno to pave the way for the Barisan Nasional (BN) to wrest control of the state from PAS in the next general election.

He said that by returning BN to power, the problems in the state, such as poverty, could be solved.

We all know that BN had ruled Kelantan before and is presently ruling Kedah, Terengganu, Sabah, Selangor etc etc, so we can safely presume that poverty no longer exist in all these states.

Obviously among our Big Ministers/Menteris Besar there are many Robbin' Hoods. They don't rob the rich to help the poor like the ori Robin Hood but instead help themselves to what is meant for the poor and fattening themelves in the process and embellishing their already palatial residence. Check out what the Auditor General have to report regarding their activities and what joe public thinks of these Robbin' Hoods.

Got Mouth for Others, No Mouth for SIL?

When UMNO Youth members held up banners criticising the Penang CM Koh at the Tanjong UMNO function in the presence of Prime Minister Pak Lah on Sept 5, 2006; Pak Lah according to Koh, had this to say ::
"Is this the way a guest is treated"

When Pak Lah's SIL had harsh words for another invited guest named Condy Rice what did Pak Lah say if anything at all?

Why so like that?
