Malaysia Today :: BolehLand BN eMPty MINIsters

My gosh, our BN MPs/deputy minister/minister are at it again. Showing off their qualities and what they are made of. Do they carry their gray matters in their heads or somewhere else?

The PPP president and Taiping MP is at it again. Trying very hard to be heard and seen. Though he is my MP, i have yet to see him in person. Sore at not being appointed the Taiping BN chieftain and finding his call for more seats for the PPP being largely ignored, he is trying to get noticed by passing remarks regarding a fellow BN component party president retirement. He is reported to have said that Gerakan would close shop in less than five years after president Lim's retirement. This has prompted Gerakan Youth chief Mah Siew Keong to call for the BN leadership to take action against the PPP president and also for the boycott of all functions officiated by him.

2007 happens to be VMY, the MINIster-in-charge obviously wanted to be in the news but what a way for him to go. His uncalled for remarks in a Chinese-language daily about Malaysian lady bloggers, has brought him much notice. He has managed to pull out of seemly thin air some startling statistics regarding Malaysian lady bloggers. Please Tengku could you share with us the various studies and the methodology used for you to come out with the following ::

1. Bloggers are liars.
2. Bloggers are cheats.
3. 80% of unemployed bloggers are ladies.
4. Bloggers like to spread rumours.
5. Bloggers don’t like national unity.

Are you out to insult Malaysian lady bloggers, all Malaysian bloggers or all bloggers. Remember that you are the MINIster-in-charge of Tourism and VMY 2007. Remember that among the many visitors you are wooing to come visit are ladies as well as bloggers. And bloggers are global and do not take kindly to insults. The PM has obviously gone into his "elegantly silent" and "I never reveal what I want to do" mode. But what about his "apologise" mode, here is one MINIster he needs to reprimand and demand an apology from, on behalf of his constituents. Come on PM do your job or you will find fewer visitors dropping by.

Malaysia Today :: What's Going On?

What's going on? We have the "elegantly silent" PM tell all that :: "I never reveal what I want to do". No wonder we never know what's going on! It is okay if he never tells as long he ACTS out what he has been promising to do eg be more transparent, act against the rampant corruption and provide good governance.

Nadiah gets 18As instead of the 19As reported by Utusan. The PM promptly says he feels sorry for her and asks Utusan to apologise. The PM tries to talk the Bursa CI to 1350 but it tumbles. Did anyone hear him apologise to all those retail players who got burnt?

Then we have the DPM who now says that a PLKN lasting 3 months is insufficient to achieve its objectives and instead is thinking of a period lasting 1-2 years! Hasn't he read or heard of the recent furore calling for the programme to be suspended, he should read here (NS - a futile effort to instill patriotism), here (Perhaps parents should boycott NS) and here (Suspend NS programme pending review).

Perhaps the DPM thinks offence is the best defence and in his usual manner has suggested to the horrors of many parents that the PLKN be extended perhaps to 1 or even 2 years. Many have said that the PLKN was at best a poorly-thought out programme, looks like it is going to be even worse. The millions spent on it would be better spent to provide unity and integrity programmes for our youths during their school going days.

Is Prostitution a Criminal Offence in BolehLand?
The latest report by the U.S. Department of State on Human Rights Practices in Malaysia is out. See it here

As pointed out by Tua Kia, according to this report, Prostitution by citizens (malaysian) is not a criminal offense.

Is this true for BolehLand?

But then again, referring to the wider meanings of this word, one does not have to cast one's net to net many BolehLanders doing it. Maybe that is why it is not a criminal offence in BolehLand.

Stop Harassing TIAN
The latest developments regarding the demolition of the houses in Kampung Berembang, Ampang and the arrest of Tian Chua are beyond rational understanding.

Why deprive the residents of a place to stay even before their case has been settled?

Why arrest Tian before a proper investigation has been carried out?

Why a charge such as "attempted murder"?

See the M'kini video here

Check out Tian's versi as reported by Malaysiakini

Malaysia Today
Malaysia today, macam macam ada!

We have a PM who recently turned investment advisor, in his fire-boar CNY message he advised Malaysians to to enter the Bursa to take a ride on the CI and take it to a record high of 1350. But soon after his advice, China happened to sneeze and the "hingus" caused the CI to take a fall instead. So for the past few days there are Malaysians blaming the said PM for the FALL.

We have an ACA (anti-corruption agency) boss, who is now alleged to have amassed substantial property and other assets through corrupt practices. There are also allegations of sexual misconducts apart from other allegations. The opposition has called for the ACA boss's suspension while the allegations are being probed again. Meanwhile, our MP minister, who is in-charge of Parliament, has come out to defend him. This minister feels the ACA boss needs no suspension as he has not been charged in court. He reportedly said ::
"There is only one process in this country and the process is that you make a report to the police and the police investigate ... I think these NGOs are stupid."
So among other names, this minister, is likely to be referred to as "NGOs are stupid" MINIster in the future.

Next we have another MINIster, "Go To Hell" Samy. Being the Works MINIster, he feels he has the right to tell some of his fellow Malaysians, voters who voted him in to serve them, to go to hell. He is obviously not aware that he is around to serve Malaysians and not tell them where to go.

The much maligned PLKN/National Service Programme has resulted in the death of another trainee. The MINIster of Health has announced that her death was due to drowning in a toilet. This is according to a report posted by our national news agency, BERNAMA . The said MINIster was quick to add ::
"I would like to stress that there is no attempt to hide anything over what has happened." Has anyone been accusing the said MINIster or the PLKN person-in-charge? And he has quickly identified a cause for the many PLKN trainee deaths, he reportedly said :: "a weakness that had been identified was that the NS trainees often took lightly when filling up questionnaires about their health". Others appear to differ, many think that the PLKN organisers have been shoddy and too hasty to get the programme running. Trainees should have been medically screened prior to their placements for the programme, the onus for this should be placed on the organisers/authorities concerned.

Other happenings included the recent re-mention of the 2005 disappearance of physical evidence of 49,000 psychotropic pills by the PDRM. According to a BERNAMA report dated 18th April 2005,

Police Identify Suspect In Missing Drugs Case

Police have identified a suspect believed to be behind the disappearance of 49,000 psychotropic pills, which were exhibits in a drug trafficking case in the Shah Alam High Court. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamed Bakri Omar said Monday investigation pointed to the suspect but no arrest had been made because the investigation was not completed. "We will complete the investigation quickly and refer to the DPP (deputy public prosecutor) before taking further action," he told reporters after visiting the Perak police headquarters here. A chemist found the box containing the pills empty when he opened it during the trial on April 6. This had shocked the judge and embarrassed the police because the drug was in police custody before being taken to court. Mohamed Bakri said police would not conceal anything. He did not discount the possibility that several other suspects were involved in the case which was being investigated by a special team set up by the police. Bukit Aman CID Director Datuk Fauzi Shaari said last week that 16 people, including several police officers, had given their statements to the investigating team.

But it appears that after almost two years, our efficient PDRM has yet to identify or charge the culprit. The newly minted IGP has said recently that he is not taking this disappearance of physical evidence lightly even though it is now nearly two year late. Like his predecessor, one Mohamed Bakri, IGP Musa "would not conceal anything".

Are we living in TDM's "BolehLand" or Michael's "BodohLand", many are asking with all the latest happenings in Malaysia today.
