“Memorandum PAS Kepada Rakyat Malaysia”

Ustaz Nasha of PAS now says, it is not an Islamic state blueprint, it was never intended to be an Islamic state blueprint, it is the “Memorandum PAS Kepada Rakyat Malaysia” or PAS' Memorandum to the Malaysian People.

Whatever it is, blueprint or memorandum, PAS when it comes to power wants to offer an Islamic State to the Muslims. But in order to do that it has first to come into power. Its intention of having Malaysia as an Islamic State for its muslim citizens and Secular State for its non-muslim citizens will definitely not go down well with all, muslims or non-muslims. How can or will PAS win over these segments of the Malaysian citizens, for if they are not convinced that the Memorandum can function well; the obvious choice, when the next elections comes, will still be BN together with its perceived excesses.

The question then comes: "Is PAS's memorandum in line with its stated objective of coming into power in this multiracial and multireligious nation of ours?" As it is today, the answer appears to be NO. To the non-muslims, the PAS version of the Islamic State may appear to them no better than the present BN version and may even be worse. But again, we really do not know.

To have PAS withdraw or not implement its Memorandum is like asking for the Moon. It is like telling the DAP to forget about a Secular Malaysian Malaysia, so with matters in this present state, it does not take an expert to predict the outcome of the next elections.

Lone wishfully thinking says : What if both PAS and DAP can fine tune their respective "MEMOS" and the people of Malaysia is willing to abandon their "better the Devil we know than the Angel we don't" outlook, anything is still possible! As is often enough said, both by the BN and the Opposition, kick us out if we are no good. Maybe it is time we take up that challenge!

Harry Crushes the Hulk

This is the title of an article in the New York Time Times Art Section. The article started off, like so : "Here's what's wrong with kids in the digital age. They live in front of their TV and PC screens. They steal music online. Their attention span is zilch. They multitask on everything and concentrate on nothing except video games. They will buy any trashy product that the media goliaths can sell them, then drop it as soon as the next big hype comes along."

It then goes on to say that "the 5th Harry Potter" has sold 5 million copies in the US and this amounted to $100 millions. In comparison, "The Hulk" brought in $62 millions and "From Justin to Kelly" only $2.7 millions!

The 1st Harry Potter was introduced some 5 years ago. So how did these Harry Potter lovers eventually "grow up to become thieves" of digital music and movies? Could the answer lie in this: "But it's no secret that music piracy spread as CD prices rose and teenagers were enraged to pay roughly the same price as a "Harry" hardcover for a dozen or so tracks of which 10 might be filler."

What to do with this theft, locally we have the lucrative trade of pirated VCDs; the answer maybe to follow what Apple has done ie "The moment that Apple put up its iTunes Music Store in April ? an elegant site that permits the downloading of songs for keeps, hassle-free, for 99 cents each ? at least some music thieves started going legit. As the store's catalog increases and spreads to Windows, and as competitors follow Apple's lead, many more will follow."

Lone says: Our local VCDs producers should take note and follow Apple. Pirated VCDs may then be a thing of the past.

SARS Update

The latest update by WHO, Update 89 – What happens if SARS returns?, indicates like the other viral infections like EBOLA, MARBURG and HANTA, SARS will make a come back. Unlike the previously mentioned infections, SARS has been able to spread rather more efficiently than the other viruses from infected human to another, this makes the SARS virus more dangerous.

Hopefully what the world has learn in the past four months of SARS will better arm us for the battle ahead against these pesky viruses.

Star-"The People's Paper"

Star the so-called People's Paper appears to be sleeping of late. Recently, the UMNO/PEKEMBAR General Assembly was said by it to be the 57th, the Sec Gen said it was the 54th and one LoneStar said UMNO/PEKEMBAR is probably younger.

Today's Star headlined "Chan gets Transport",Lone says that Chan has really got teleported as he has been given double promo over his boss the MCA President who is still in his old post.

The Datuk Dato Wong warned the people reading his papers that :"In any case, many of us are often suspicious of information posted on the Internet, including so-called news websites, as they have often been proven inaccurate." ; should be more careful as The People's Paper can also have errors and inaccuracies. Today Datuk Dato Wong said that Datuk Seri Ong KT must have decided to stay on as Housing and Local Government Minister, how can that be. Don't we all know that any such a decision is made by WHO, and I don't mean the World Health Organisation.

Let the Datuk Dato be reminded that it is human to err, so don't go out looking for faults with the news websites and bloggers. Even Lone and LoneStar can err.

More on SMART

All my rantings on Smart started after Lone had a glance at an article in icapital by Mr Tan T B. As not all of you may get to view this page on the web, allow me to revealed the relevant portions as Lone just have to share this with you all.

He started off by reminding us of the Great Flood "On 10 June 2003, Kuala Lumpur experienced a heavy 3-hour downpour. Not surprisingly, floods very, very quickly hit central KL. This was not the first time that KL had a heavy downpour (in fact, it has experienced worse) and it was not the first time that central KL was hit by floods. In future, KL would certainly be having more downpours, some even heavier than that on 10 June. But will central KL be quickly hit by floods in future ? This is really the interesting part of our story telling."

The solutions being considered: "Among the solutions adopted to prevent future flooding in central KL, the government is constructing "smart" tunnels that will divert water from flood-prone areas to the rivers. At the same time, Malaysians were also informed that a working paper on ways to prevent future flash floods would be submitted to the Cabinet within two weeks. If the ordinary Malaysians are not impressed or convinced with the solutions, please excuse us for being so unenthusiastic. Floods have hit central KL before and solutions have been promised many, many times. The feeling that ordinary Malaysians have that our government is not getting to the root of this problem is so entrenched that we would be surprised if any of the solutions really work. They know that there is more to the problem and solution than what is being reported."

The story continues, see our financial/investment analyst getting at the causes. Are those DID guys seeing them?:"This brings us back to our smart tunnels. The fundamental cause of the never-ending flood that hits central KL has nothing to do with the inability of the rivers to drain a huge volume of water in a short time. The fundamental cause of our inability to solve such problems is the same as the reason why Malaysia has fallen so far behind South Korea. In a dinner speech in March 2003, our Deputy Prime Minister summed it all. We quote :
"The malaise affecting Malaysia is a case of having First-World infrastructure and Third-World mentality."

Just like in solving the perpetual flooding problem in central KL, the answer to sustaining our robust economic growth lies not in having smart tunnels but in having smart planners, smart administrators and smart Malaysians. As we clear our hills, as we cut our trees, as we build our houses, be smart. As we level our precious hills, think of the damaging effects on the topography. As we chop our trees down, rain falling to the soil is not slowed down. As we build our houses, especially the bungalows with their monstrous build-up areas, how can the rainfall run off efficiently ?"

He next mentions also regarding, you guess what--smart schools and more other things smart: "You know what they say about computers ? Garbage in, garbage out. While the machine or the tunnels are smart, the people designing or building or planning or using or maintaining the smart tunnels may be dumb. It is the same with our smart schools. Building a smart school is not just having a school with "First-World infrastructure." Smart schools need smart students and teachers. When we have finished building the smart tunnels and we find that central KL is no better off, what do we do next ? We probably should have smart rain - rain that is smart enough not to pour so heavily on central KL in such a short time. When it is too heavy, the rain will be smart enough to go somewhere else or shrink its volume. Perhaps someone would then propose that it is better to have smart clouds - you know, clouds with brains that would know where it should go. Or maybe we should have the ultimate solution - smart weather. Now why didn't I think of that ?"

Finally the REAL SOLUTION : "The real solution to central KL's flooding problem lies not in having more "First-World infrastructure." Malaysia urgently needs a cultural and mental revolution to rid itself of the "Third-World mentality." We have let our rich natural resources become a curse in disguise instead of a blessing. Instead of just saying "Malaysia Boleh", we really need to answer why "Malaysia tak boleh." It is time for self-honesty and self-criticism. Our government has correctly identified the desperate need for a performance-based system throughout the entire country, be it the public or private sectors. We must stay the course and allow meritocracy to seep through every aspect of our lives, our thoughts and our actions. Our solution is simple. We simply need smart Malaysians - from parents to students to teachers to farmers to civil servants to businessmen to politicians. In this context, the NEAC has correctly proposed turning one of the 7 local institutions of higher learning into a world-class university that focuses on research. i?Capital has recommended such a strategy before and backs the NEAC's proposal. Instead of spending our precious money on projects like the smart tunnels, use them to develop more world-class research universities. We should have a few of them and allow competition from the private sector also.

With a performance-based system and meritocracy widely practised, the objective of improving our * PEC across all sectors of the economy will be achieved. Once we do this, Malaysia will catch up with its East Asian neighbours and even race ahead. But if we tackle the massive economic challenges facing Malaysia the way we tackle our flood problem, Malaysia is set on a long-term decline.

*PEC=Productivity, Efficiency and Competitiveness

NB. Mr Tan was using the "solving the flood problem" to illustrate "solving the economy problem

For those who want to read the whole article go here

Lone's conclusion : Mr Tan has my vote if he should decide to stand, come next elections

Smart Citizens + Smart Government = Smart Malaysia

Lately we have been hearing of smart this and smart that. We have smart partnerships, smart phones, smart cards, smart schools and the latest smart tunnels. These Smart Tunnels are meant to drain smart water to smart rivers and eventually to smart seas and of course this will alleviate the Flash Floods of Kuala Lumpur. But for all that to happen we must also have a smart DID/JPS to make those smart tunnels, and of course smart clouds to carry those smart rains which will then fall on those smart tunnels, which of course must be built by our smart citizens. What can we do without this word SMART.

Pekembar(UMNO) General Assembly---Mahathir's Bombshell

Lone just had to read Dr M's address to the UMNO general assembly, this being his last.

The immediate response by those observers present during the assembly can be seen here: Courageous Speech says The New Straits Times.

The Straits Times interactive under the heading Mahathir warns of new wave of European colonialism Target : Malaysia said that Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad devoted much of his speech yesterday to point to the growing influence of the Europeans, including those who migrated to the United States, Australia and New Zealand, whom he warned were out to recolonise Malaysia and the world, a controversial theme that he has returned to often. In another article, Brendan Pereira said that Mahathir made a stinging attack on West.

The Star gloss over the Western bashing and instead said Dr M?s parting advice: arm yourselves with skills and be willing to make sacrifices.

The Malay Mail had this to say---Mahathir warns of neo-colonialism and foreign domination and mentioned about Dr Mahathir's last flash of guiding light.

What has the foreign press to say regarding the Prime Minister's last hurrah? AFP said "Malaysian PM lashes European race, warns party in tearful farewell".

Reuters had this to say "Sept 11 an Excuse for West to Attack Muslims-Mahathir, speech risks incurring Washington's wrath again".

Reuters also reported on UMNO's parting gift for Mahathir--- "Dr Mahathir Mohamad Institute of Strategic Thinking".

While AFP called Mahathir's speech " one of the most astonishingly undiplomatic speeches by the leader of a nation ", the BBC said "it was Dr Mahathir's comments about the war in Iraq which will prove more controversial".

Lone says : The address is so typical of the MAN who always has to do it, MY WAY. Hopefully the Western bashing will not leave Pak Lah, the successor with too much on his hands. Pak Lah will already have his hands full dealing with the UMNO (or is it going to be Pekembar) that Dr M leaves behind.

p.s. You have just got to read this, a citizen's thoughts/views regarding Dr M's Speech, Lone is sure many other citizens share similar, over to you Umar Mukhtar and our different worries.

The National Service Bill

Looks like those born in the year 1986 and after are in for a bad time after they have finished their SPM. LONE has no doubt that the bill will be passed with little or no change with the massive majority the BN has in Parliament. Too late for those of us who are worried for our children, we should have done the right and proper thing in 1999.

Just like LONE knows that the bill will get passage, LONE similarly has no doubts that things will get screwed up during the implementation stage, as things appear to have been rushed and do not appear to have been fully thought out.

The National Service is to inclucate better relations among our youngsters, make them more patriotic (why not just give them more flags to fly) and enhance national unity. Just imagine doing all this stuff in a matter of three short months! Boleh kah? The 11 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling have obviously gone to waste since they have not been able to achieved the aims stated in the National Service bill.

Could the Rm500 millions be better spent each year to improve those schooling years, like making sure there is adequate water supply, electricity and lighting for all schools in the country. Also ensure that the less fortunate school children are getting their meals before or during school. An empty stomach will surely lead to a non-functioning brain! The 11 to 13 years of formal schooling should be utilise to achieve those said aims. I am sure if there is a will, this much longer period of time will be more adequate and produce better results. Use these years to foster better relations among our youngsters and patriotism and national unity will naturally follow. Show our youngsters that they all have equal opportunities in this Malaysia of plenty.

All of us must speak up regarding this bill before it together with the various penalities that are in it becomes law and we are then unable to say anything more.

What our MPs should rightly do is to have the bill withdrawn to allow more time for they, themselves, as while as the educationists, parents, the tobe involved youngsters and civil society to study and debate the Bill before it is presented to Parliament so that at the end of the day, we may truly have a law which will help us to achieve the aims of enhancing relations, national unity and patriotism

As we all live on hope, lets hope wiser counsel prevails and that our youngsters, those born in 1986 may still be reprieved and passage of the bill be suspended for further study.

The Kartun

Much is being said about the Kartun, I saw it first in the news presented by RTM 2. See it if you must here, don't click if you rather not.
*What is a kartun:

kar-tun: a drawing depicting a humourous situation, often accompanied by a caption.
kar-tun, political: a drawing representing current public figures or issues symbolically and often satirically.
kar-tun:carton, cardboard or plastic container.

See here for what Zunar has to say; see here for what Jeff Ooi has to say, see here for Oon Yeoh's say and lastly see here for what Mohd Zin and outraged lawmakers have to say.

Lone says: I say, I say, I say, your KC boh say. A kar-tun is a kar-tun is a kar-tun. *see above Though this one is not in good taste, don't read too much into it.

Latest: HARAKAH has apologise and withdrawn said Kartun, see here.

Taiping the sleepy hollow, pensioners' Paradise

VIP GUESTS: Sultan Azlan Shah, Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Bainun and Raja Nazrin Shah taking the night safari tour at the Taiping Zoo on Sunday 15th June 2003

I am in TAIPING, which is often called a sleepy hollow and the pensioners' paradise, and recently there has been quite a lot of going ons because of the latest tourist attraction--the Night Safari at The Zoo. So I must talk a little about it.

Apart from this latest attraction, Taiping has much more to offer and many famous firsts and oldest. These attractions include the following:

A beautiful lake gardens
Bukit Larut Hill Station, formerly know as Maxwell Hills or Kopi San
Muzium Larut
Kuala Gula Bird Santuary
Oldest Clock Tower 1870
Oldest Railway Station
Bukit Merah LakeTown
Bukit Jana Golf Club
Food galore
The Rain Gamblers
and too many more, to name all.

For the past many weeks or so, the town has been spruced up, numerous coloured lightings added to the various roads in town, blinking and sparkling during the nights, new directional signs added and some buildings newly painted to welcome the crowds who finally descended on the town that Sunday evening. The crowd had come in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the Sultan, Sultanah and their son, (who must be one of the most eligible bachelor in Malaysia); they had also come to experience the Night Safari.

For those who have been away from Taiping for a while, they will find that she is much better lighted up at night, a new hospital building has almost been completed, there are more traffic lights in town, the night market has been shifted (the newly completed new market has not yet been put into use--stalls too tiny and too few, ask MPT why?????) and the pride of the town folks--the Lake Gardens has been greatly improved, the New Club Golf Course is NO more and finally there is Prestavest Memorial Park , Taiping's equivalent of Nilai's.

For those interested in visiting Taiping the following links are helpful:

Lessons from the ISA 6

A few of my friends did remark what a waste the 2 years or more of detention had been for the ISA 6 who were released recently. But what the ISA 6 did during that time and what their families, friends and supporters did and will do prove that the time has not been wasted. Despite the difficult conditions, they have put their time to good use. Rais must have learnt a lot regarding gardening, Tian worked on getting his PhD, Badrulamin read his 200 books and became a better citizen, the families, friends and supporters used the time fruitfully to educate the citizens regarding the ISA.
What of the future, the released 6 must continue the push together with friends and supporters and AIM to get the remaining ISA detainees released or charged in court and the ISA ABOLISHED ASAP

Lone says: The released ISA 6, their families, friends and supporters may have learnt much during the 2 years or more, the question is whether their jailers and tormentors have learnt too, to be better citizens and humans.

After Dr Mahathir

HIS song goes like this: "And now, the end is near; and so I face the final curtain...... and the Man appears to be having a little stage fright, or is the whole thing another sandiwara. Dr M will be having his last UMNO General Assembly soon, as UMNO President. Recently he gave an interview to Mingguan Malaysia and said that he is worried what may happen after he leaves in October this year, for BMalaysia see here and for English see here

Lone says: Watch what happens on the 18th June. A power struggle is maybe looming for it must be remembered that Pak Lah is an appointed Deputy UMNO President and DPM and was not elected. Not announcing whom he will eventually have as his deputy when he is PM does not make matter better. Najib and his boys must be working overtime and so too must be Ku Li's and Musa's. Exciting times are on the way.

VCD Pirates

Something is not quite right with the present campaign against the VCD pirates. The PDRM has said that their campaign against the distributors and producers of such VCDs has been a great success. They for some odd reasons are taking the campaign next, by targetting the consumers and now our DPM, and PM wannabe wants the original production houses to reduce price to wipe out piracy! See The Star's article

Stranger still is this statement attributed to our PDRM Top Gun:Asked whether police had identified the ?masterminds? behind the syndicates and why they had not been arrested, he replied: ?Yes, police have identified some of them and 'No' as they are not directly involved.?? See the full article here

Lone says to wipe out piracy, the ONLY way togo is to catch the TOP GUNS concerned, those who are the financiers and masterminds behind the piracy. That is where the campaign should be heading next!

PAS ISLAMIC BLUEPRINT

With the General Elections drawing nearer, it seems that PAS has finally come out with its blueprint for an Islamic State, read this article in the The Straits Times See also the articles in MALAYSIAKINI

The PAS Website does not seem to have this blueprint as yet, but look here for the Dasar Parti PAS

Now we will have to see what BN, DAP, Keadilan & PRM have to say about this. As Lone sees it, it is very unlikely that PAS can form the government by itself in the near future. So what PAS has to do, more importantly and relevant presently, is to come out with a Blueprint for what happens in the event that The Alternatives get to defeat BN! Is there such a Blueprint??? Let's hear it from PAS

No Hands Holding

The Brits have commented on our no holding hands stance, see BBC and
the Singaporeans also have had their say.
Now we have the MCA having their's. PERAK MCA SAYS

Can Datuk Ong Ka Chuan please, please tell US what he means by " indecent behaviour and acts that violate moral values" and please, please also define what is "excessive hugging and kissing", so that we do not run foul of MCA code of behaviour! While he is at it, could he also let US know what is MCA code of behaviour, that is if there is such a code. To me a kiss is just a kiss, I am sure he is not talking about BUTTERLY KISSES or THIS KISS

Below is what Martin Jalleh has to say:

MAYOR WITH MIXED MOTIVES?

Martin Jalleh

Datuk Sirajuddin Salleh was handed the role of the Mayor of Ipoh by the powers-that-be in December last year, In other words, he was not selected nor voted in by the citizenry.
There was much at hand to be seen to -- the collection of garbage, attending to lethal potholes, clearing clogged drains, maintaining public places of recreation, checking on the lazy and corrupt in the Ipoh Municipal Council.
But Sirajuddin Salleh believed that he had been handpicked for a much larger role. He was going to be the hand of God -- the great enforcer of public morality
Things have been getting out of hand in the parks in Ipoh.
There has been too many incidences of hand-holding or ?handy?-panky by courting couples.
He even found a by-law which could be applied to all offenders (whatever their religion).
To give his men some hands-on training, he sent them out hand-in-hand for their new mission...to the parks, padang...and Perpustakaan!
Surely, this new code of morality -- hands-free courting -- would give BN an upper hand over PAS. He would be handing Ipoh on a platter to the ruling coalition this coming elections.
Further, it would no doubt earn him a handsome recognition from his superiors. It would come in handy for some future non-elected political appointment when his terms ends.
But there was an uproar in Ipoh.
Many of her citizens told Sirajuddin Salleh to keep his hired hands to himself and to put his hands where they should be.
The mayor very quickly washed his hands and changed his tune when he received a clear "hands-off" message .
He declared that simple hugging or holding hands are not offences under the Ipoh Municipal Council Bylaw 1985 on parks (Star, 8 June 2003).
He added the bylaw only applied to couples who engaged in indecent behaviour in parks such as excessive hugging, groping or kissing.
Common sense says that it is not wrong to hold hands, he told reporters.
Common sense was very uncommon amongst his officers who began issuing many a summons over the past months. (More than 30 summonses had been issued in the past few months.)
My enforcement officers are professionals and they know their work, he insisted.
If his officers are so professional why would Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Tajol issue a directive that the council cease taking action against courting couples.
Sirajuddin also said, in general, most people would not admit they did anything wrong just as thieves would not own up. He urged those couples who repeatedly denied they had engaged in improper behaviour after being issued summonses to tell the truth.
Perhaps it is Sirajuddin who should be telling the truth behind his high-handedness. His handiwork has been carried worldwide by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had recently declared that Malaysians who have a hand with foreigners discrediting the country are a disgraceful lot (Star, 9.6.03).
Should credit be given to those who discredit the country alone?

What more can Lone say, except to say, as Lionel Ritchie said: SAY YOU, SAY ME.

Now what has the Tok Guru to say?

In Kelantan

Hi! I am presently in Kelantan, one of the two states ruled by PAS, the said superconservative Islamic party. After having recently read about what the youngsters in Perak are facing regarding hands holding and talking to members of the opposite sex, I thought I'll take a look around Kota Baru and see what PAS is doing. Surprise, surprise the teenagers here are better off, no enforcement officers are to be seen chasing after them. The supermarkets do have male and female checkout counters but evidently no one seems to be taking much notice of these. PAS has plently to learn from their moral enforcer counterparts in the BN.

Wonder what Tok Guru has to say about this???

No More SARS Death

Finally no more deaths from SARS reported. Are we finally beating those pesky coronavirus. You can be sure they are still llurking around and we humans must continue to be very, very very vigilent or they will be back in even newer forms to test us. Read this:

First Day Since March With No SARS Deaths

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND -- June 4, 2003 -- As of today, a cumulative total of 8402 probable SARS cases with 772 deaths has been reported from 29 countries. This represents an increase of 10 new cases compared with yesterday. The new cases were reported in Canada (5), Hong Kong (1), Taiwan (2), Germany (1), and the USA (1).
No new deaths were reported today. This marks the first day with no new SARS deaths since 28 March, when the cumulative totals stood at 1485 cases and 53 deaths. The peak numbers of deaths occurred during the second week of March, when as many as 20 new deaths were being reported on some days.
With outbreaks at all the initial "hot zones" either contained or coming under control, SARS is clearly in decline, indicating that recommended control measures are effective when combined with political commitment and determination.
The fact that the chain of transmission has been broken in Viet Nam and Singapore underscores the WHO position that SARS can be contained, despite the absence of a vaccine, robust diagnostic test and specific treatment. Control currently depends on prompt detection and isolation of cases, good infection control in hospitals, and the tracing and quarantine of contacts.
Viet Nam has remained free of new SARS cases since 8 April. In Singapore, the last locally acquired probable case was isolated on 11 May. No new cases have since been detected in either country despite a high level of alert and aggressive investigation of all rumoured cases.
The experience in Toronto, where more than 70 new cases have been reported since 26 May, underscores the risk of a resurgence of cases and the constant need for vigilance. A single imported case can reignite an outbreak or bring cases to a new area, if preparedness measures are weak.
The new case reported today in Germany, in a man recently returned from Taiwan, has resulted in the quarantine of around 50 contacts. The man has been hospitalized in isolation.

Ling Ling Gone

MCA LING's resignation/retirement is celebrated in these words by Martin Jalleh:

Remembering Ling

His credibility crumbling
His excuses fumbling
His arguments failing
His logic mind-boggling
His Chinese operas tickling
His support dwindling
His leadership hobbling
His principles, So(h) revealing
His reputation struggling
His son he continues bailing
His newspapers so reviling
His PM pulling and smiling
His MCA, UMNO's darling
His party'll go on squabbling
His legacy buying and selling.

Martin Jalleh (3 June 2003)

I wonder whether LING will get to read this where he is now--Melbourne. Australia, whatever our Dr M and his friends have to say about it, is the favourite hunting ground and R&R place for many of our politicians!!! Wonder why???

But have you heard about soups possibly reducing your chances of getting cancers especially the intestinal variety. It seems that the Thais have a very low incidence of intestinal cancers. Research is being carried out as to whether the reason for this is that Thai soup---exactly the TOM YUM SOUPY.
Now do not rush out for the said soup, the jury is still out, and said soup may not be good for those who have gastric ulcers!
;-D ;-D ;-D
Then again they may only be good for Thais and not for US.
